Many dwellings in the East Cantons are built with an extremely typical natural stone: “arkose“. A few quarries located along the Warche river produce arkose. As soon as you leave the Warche Valley, the Upper Fens’ natural environment gains the upper hand. The return journey takes you along the hills to the north of Malmedy.
